Caiques are wonderful parrots that were originally brought to the US from the Amazon region of South America during the 70's. They have been successfully bred in captivity ever since. They make wonderful pets if you understand a few basic principles of caique behavior. Caiques don't like to be alone. If you keep them alone, they will scream until you devote a few hours of the day to caring for them. If you don't have lots of time to be with your caique, you should keep one or two other caiques around so they can keep each other company. Also, caiques are very active and need a room in which they can calm themselves down.
